Privacy Policy
Last updated: September 30, 2026
This policy explains what information CircuitEdge collects, how we use it, who we share it with, and the choices you have. We collect only what the site needs to work.
The short version
- You sign in with GitHub or Google. We never see a password.
- We store your name, email, avatar, course progress, and XP.
- Your name, avatar, and XP appear on the public leaderboard; your email never does.
- Stripe handles payments. We never see or store your card number.
- No ads, no analytics, no tracking, and we never sell your data.
- Email us any time to get a copy of your data, fix it, or delete it.
This summary is for convenience. The full text below is what applies.
1. Who we are
CircuitEdge is an online learning site for Arduino, electronics, and digital logic, operated by Alfred Navarro in the United States. In this policy, "CircuitEdge", "we", and "us" refer to that operator, and "you" means anyone who visits or uses the site.
This policy covers the CircuitEdge website and the services on it. It doesn't cover GitHub, Google, Stripe, or other sites we link to, which have their own privacy policies.
2. Information we collect
Information from GitHub or Google when you sign in
You sign in with GitHub or Google. We never see or store a password. When you sign in, that provider shares the following with us:
- Your name
- Your email address
- Your profile picture (avatar) URL
- A unique account identifier from the provider
What the provider shares is controlled by your GitHub or Google account settings and their privacy policies.
Learning activity
- Which courses you've completed
- Your skill check results: your score and the XP earned
- Your total XP
You can read free courses without an account. If you aren't signed in, we don't store any course activity for you.
Subscription and payment information
Payments are handled by Stripe. You enter your card details on Stripe's checkout page, not ours, and we never receive or store your card number. From Stripe we keep only your Stripe customer ID, your subscription ID, and your subscription status (for example, active or canceled).
Information you send us
If you email us, we receive your email address and whatever you include in the message.
Technical information
Our hosting provider automatically processes technical data needed to deliver web pages and protect the site, such as your IP address, browser type, and the pages you request. We use a small number of cookies that are strictly necessary for signing in and security; see the Cookie Policy.
What we don't collect
- Passwords
- Payment card numbers
- Precise location
- Analytics or advertising tracking data. We don't use analytics tools, ad networks, or tracking pixels.
3. How we use your information
- To run your account: signing you in, keeping you signed in, and saving your progress and XP.
- To provide Premium: checking your subscription status, unlocking premium courses, and letting you manage billing.
- To show the leaderboard: see the next section.
- To keep the site secure: preventing abuse, fraud, and cheating on the leaderboard.
- To communicate with you: replying when you contact us, and sending important notices about your account, your subscription, or changes to our policies. We don't send marketing email.
- To meet legal obligations: for example, tax and accounting records for payments.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use it for advertising.
4. The public leaderboard
The leaderboard is public. It shows the name, profile picture, and XP total of signed-in learners who have earned XP, and anyone can see it without signing in. Your email address and subscription status are never shown. If you'd rather not appear on the leaderboard, email alfredrnavarro@gmail.com and we'll remove you. Your progress and XP are kept.
6. How long we keep information
| Information | How long |
|---|---|
| Account details, progress, quiz results, XP | Until you delete your account |
| Subscription status and Stripe IDs | Until you delete your account |
| Emails you send us | Up to 2 years after the conversation ends |
| Hosting and security logs | A limited period, under Cloudflare's own retention policies |
| Payment and billing records | Kept by Stripe as required by tax and financial laws, under Stripe's privacy policy |
When you delete your account, we remove your data from our live systems within 30 days. Copies in our providers' backups are overwritten on their normal backup schedule.
7. Your choices and rights
Wherever you live, you can ask us to:
- Access: send you a copy of the personal information we hold about you
- Correct: fix information that's inaccurate
- Delete: delete your account and associated data
- Leave the leaderboard: hide your name, avatar, and XP from the public leaderboard
You can also cancel a subscription at any time with "Manage Subscription" on the pricing page, and change the name or avatar we receive by updating your GitHub or Google profile and signing in again.
How to make a request
Email alfredrnavarro@gmail.com from the email address on your account. If you write from a different address, we'll confirm the request with the account's address before acting on it, so nobody else can get or delete your data. We respond within 30 days. You can also have an authorized agent contact us for you; we'll ask for proof that you gave them permission. We won't treat you differently for exercising any of these rights.
8. California privacy rights
If you live in California, the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) gives you the rights listed in the previous section, and we honor them as described there. In the past 12 months we have collected these categories of personal information:
| Category | Examples | Source |
|---|---|---|
| Identifiers | Name, email address, account ID, IP address | You, GitHub/Google, your browser |
| Commercial information | Subscription status and history | Stripe |
| Internet activity | Pages requested, course progress, quiz results | Your use of the site |
We use these for the purposes in the "How we use your information" section and disclose them only to the service providers listed above. We do not sell personal information or "share" it for cross-context behavioral advertising, and we have not done so in the past 12 months. We don't collect or use sensitive personal information to infer characteristics about you.
9. Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control
Because CircuitEdge doesn't track you across other sites, sell data, or show ads, there's nothing for these signals to switch off. We treat a Global Privacy Control signal as a valid request to opt out of the sale or sharing of your information, which we don't do in any case.
10. Security
All traffic to CircuitEdge is encrypted with HTTPS. Our database only lets each account read its own records, and changes to progress, XP, and billing can only be made by our servers, not from the browser. Payment details are handled entirely by Stripe. No system is perfectly secure, but if a breach affects your information, we'll notify you as required by law.
11. Children
CircuitEdge is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child under 13 has created an account, email alfredrnavarro@gmail.com and we'll delete it. Teens aged 13 to 17 may use CircuitEdge with a parent or guardian's permission, as described in our Terms of Service.
12. Users outside the United States
CircuitEdge is run from the United States and intended for users there. If you use it from another country, your information will be transferred to, stored, and processed in the United States and in the other countries where our service providers operate.
13. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as CircuitEdge changes. We'll always change the "Last updated" date at the top. For significant changes, such as using your information in a new way, we'll also notify you on the site or by email before the change takes effect.
